2016 Summer (home)

August 2016 Update

On our journey back from Florida to Indiana we spent a few days at Charlestown State Park in southern Indiana.  This park is ten years old, very clean and very natural.  Because it was early in the season, we pretty much had the campground to ourselves.  We spent a day hiking (Bob’s first on uneven terrain post-op), went into town one evening to watch the Pacers in the NBA playoffs, and met some nice people from northern Indiana who were beginning to think about full-timing.  It was a lovely few days.

We returned to S & H Campground near Greenfield, IN in late April.  We were able to spend a pretty day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) for Grand Prix practice and reconnect with our racing friends.  It turned very chilly race day, but we saw a good race won by Simon Pagenaud.

We’ve been able to spend time with family, especially our sons and granddaughters.  They have all grown so much since we saw them at Christmas!

Bob worked at IMS during May and we were able to attend practice a few times.  It was very special this year as it was the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500; lots of hoopla done in a great way.  The race itself was fabulous and we enjoyed sharing it with over 300,000 of our closest friends, especially Steve & Jan, Brigette, Cassondra and Kareline.  Congratulations to Alexander Rossi for his win as a rookie!

We spent a pretty day in downtown Indianapolis with our older granddaughters, Shelby, Abby and Grace.  The girls and Grandma climbed to the top of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument (Grandma rode the elevator back down!) and enjoyed the beautiful view.  We walked along the canal and after lunch visited the State Capitol.  A fun day for all.

Son Eric and granddaughter Nora shared the Indianapolis Zoo with us (mom, Kristin had to work).  It was a pretty day and not too crowded; so fun to see the animals through a child’s eyes.

The end of July we attended the Hondo Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.  It was quite hot and we certainly did a lot of walking but it was a fun weekend with lots of track action in front of us.  Congratulations to Simon Pagenaud who is really on a winning streak this year.

After ten absolutely fabulous years on the road, we have decided to sell our wheels and buy a house, settling once again in Greenfield, Indiana.  We just bought a nice little home on the edge of town and look forward to moving in and making it ours soon.  We have enjoyed our time on the road, have seen fabulous places in this great USA and meet so many wonderful people.  Each of you has made a difference in our lives and we have memories we will always hold dear (and thousands of pictures).  This website will probably change in formatting, but hopefully will remain for years to come.

Sincerely,

Bob & Kathy
